Driving And Parking Around Georgetown University

Like most universities across the country, Georgetown University has a limited number of spaces available for employees, students and visitors. It is discouraged from parking along the street and is recommended to find other forms of transportation if possible. Great public transportation services are offered to help reduce the need for parking on campus.

Visitor Parking Information

If you are visitor on campus, then please use the garage that is located on Canal Road. As you arrive please take a ticket from the gate dispenser and then use that ticket to pay for your time spent in the garage. You can pay for your ticket at the exit gate or at the Pay Station that is located in the lobby of Kennedy Hall. The Southwest Garage offers a shuttle to the Leavey Conference Center and Yates Field House from the bus turn around point near the parking garage.

Yates Field House Parking

If you are a Yates member, then you are allowed to park for free at the Southwest Garage either before 9AM or anytime after 4PM on the days Monday through Friday when you have your Yates parking pass. If you need to park at the Southwest Garage between the hours of 9AM and 4PM then there is a $5 per hour fee with the maximum time of 2 hours you can be parked.

Motorcycle Parking

Those of you with motorcycles are able to park on campus in designated parking spaces assigned to motorcycles. You will not be able to park your motorcycle in bicycle areas or where spaces are designated to cars. You will need to have a decal on your motorcycle for parking and you cannot transfer the decal to your motor vehicle.

Replacement Permits

If you have lost your permit, you can get a replacement permit for a fee of $100. If you had your parking pass permit stolen, and you have reported it stolen with the local Police or the Georgetown University Police Department, then you can have the fee waived for the replacement permit with a copy of the incident report.

Those looking to get replacement permits for a car because you have sold your old car or it has gotten in an accident, please update the OTM. You will not be able to transfer the parking permit for an old car to a new car.
